The new University of Toronto AeroLab Portal, hosted by the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies is a new technology that incorporates the features of conventional courseware with more advanced collaboration and communication tools.

The portal is host to the new Remote Access Aerospace Laboratory which provides remote access to several experimental setups hosted in the lab. It also serves as the primary design tool for AER201 - Engineering Design, and as a collaboration design space for Aerospace Option and Graduate students.

Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003

Based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Micoroft SQL Server 2005, the portal is highly integrated with Microsoft Office 2007 and Windows Server 2003. This improves productivity with office applications as well as provides seamless security and domain integration with Windows Server 2003 Active Directory.

The AeroLab Portal now features an application server for accessing design software over the internet via Terminal Server and a browser based RDP client. Students can now access key design and simulation applications any time from an any computer with internet access. Hardware and software for the application server were provided by PACE. Available applications include MATLAB, Mathematica, UGS NX, MSC.ADAMS, Office 2007 Suite, Visual Studio 2005, etc..
